# Billing & credits

> The nao Cloud free trial, plans, and nao credits for managed AI models

Billing on nao Cloud is per organization and managed by organization admins from **Settings** -> **Billing & Credits**. Members don't see billing pages: they are asked to contact an admin when something needs attention.

## Free trial

Every new organization gets a **14-day free trial**. No card is needed.

* The trial starts automatically when your organization creates its first project, through the [onboarding agent](https://docs.getnao.io/nao-agent/cloud/onboarding.md) or `nao deploy`. Admins can also start it earlier from the banner: *"Start your free trial now, or it will begin when you create your first project."*
* During the trial, admins see a banner with the days left. In the last 3 days it reminds you to choose a plan.
* If the trial ends without a subscription, your organization switches to read-only: your projects, chats, and data stay available, but agents stop running until you subscribe.

## Plans

nao Cloud has one plan with unlimited users, billed **monthly** or **yearly** (yearly shows its discount). Prices are shown in USD or EUR depending on your location. See [getnao.io/pricing](https://getnao.io/pricing) for current prices.

To subscribe, open **Settings** -> **Billing & Credits** and click **Choose plan in Stripe** (or **Subscribe in Stripe** after the trial). You choose monthly or yearly billing in Stripe, where you can also enter a promotion code. If you subscribe during the trial, nothing is charged before the trial ends.

From the same page you can see your current plan and its status, open invoices, and manage your payment method in Stripe.

## nao credits

nao credits let your team chat with managed AI models without bringing an LLM API key. They are held in one shared wallet per organization and used by every project in it.

> [!NOTE]
>
> nao credits can be used during the free trial. After the trial, they can only be used with an active nao Cloud subscription.

### Getting credits

| Grant | When |
| - | - |
| **\$20** setup grant | Once per organization, when its first project has a working database connection |
| **\$5** member grant | Once per member who joins an organization that already received the setup grant, verifies their email, and has access to a ready project (up to 100 members per organization) |

When the setup grant lands, admins see a **Welcome to nao Cloud** dialog with **Ask your first question**.

To add more, org admins click **Add credits** in the **Organization credits** card. Choose an amount from $20 to $500. A 5% nao platform fee and applicable taxes are added, and payment goes through Stripe Checkout.

### Using credits

Credits pay for the managed **nao** models: **GPT 6 Luna** (default) and **GPT 6 Sol**. Pick them in the chat model picker, or set them as defaults in **Settings** -> **Agent** -> **Models**, where the **nao** provider card shows your remaining credits.

Your own provider keys (OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock, and so on) are billed by your provider and never use credits. You can mix both: add your API key in **Settings** -> **Agent** -> **Models** and keep the nao models available.

Example chats on the Jaffle Shop project and onboarding chats are free and don't use credits.

### Tracking usage

The **Organization credits** card in **Settings** -> **Billing & Credits** shows what is **Available**, **Credited** and **Debited**, with two tabs:

* **Credit history**: grants, purchases, and refunds.
* **nao AI usage**: what each member spent on nao models.

Managed model costs also appear in [Usage & Costs](https://docs.getnao.io/nao-agent/chat/admin/monitoring.md) next to your own providers' estimates.

### When credits run out

When the wallet is empty, the nao models disappear from the model picker and chats using them stop. Your projects, chats, and data are safe.

* Admins see **Add nao credits** and **Add your API key**.
* Members are asked to contact an organization admin.
